ask me anything meme - day 04 (oct 4th)
Eric and I are still traveling North.
We've stopped for the night in Fayetteville, NC, and now we're going going out to explore and for some breakfast... I'm craving Krispy Kreme... That Offer on National Coffee Day definitely worked because I'm hooked up!
We've never stop here so I hope I'll find something pretty! :D
____________

imagine_peace asked What is the best thing about living in Italy? What about the United States?

I was talking with Eric about it the other day (he loves Italy) and I was telling him how my leaving home (Italy) made me learn how to love it and miss it... but still, now I'd never being able to give up on the US . Every time I leave Florida I instantly miss it, and it happens the same when I'm leaving Italy too! So, a thing that I really like about both places is that they're able to make me feel home and I find myself missing them when I'm not there! I don't take either Country for granted!

The best thing about living in Italy is food! Sorry to be too obvious! And it's all about the quality, not the variety. Everything is good... and the coffee (but if you buy a Nespresso Coffee Maker you can have Italian Coffee at home too). I love the energy of Italians and they way they move. I like that are pretty straight forward, meaning: if I don't like you I'll let you know, while Americans are (from my experience) too nice and sometimes it comes out as fake. I like the fact that when I'm there I'm surrounded by History and Old Souls! Italy makes me feel good about being who I am, and it gives me an heaviness that I like to have in me.

The best thing about living in America is the variety. You can find everything you can possibly think about! Everything is vast and new! I love the sense of unlimited possibilities! America makes me want to be better and expand my horizons. Makes me feel like everything is possible and lifts my spirit! Also FREE WIFI EVERYWHERE! That's the best thing! Restaurants are open all day (if you want to eat at 3 pm in Italy you probably won't find any restaurant open) as well as shops! If I'm low on milk I can go to CVS even in the middle of the night! That's handy!

So, in a few words: Together, this Countries make me whole! That's the thing I love the most!!!

The food in Italy is so delicious - I really enjoyed it when I went with my sister, my mom, and my godmother to Rome several years ago.

Yes, the variety is good in America, I can attest to that :)

If there's one thing we do right is feeding people LOL!

American groceries stores are quite fantastic, you can find whatever you want/need and their hours of operations are the best! :D

Hope you're having fun & safe travels.

Italian food is delish. I can only imagine how good it is IN Italy.

while Americans are (from my experience) too nice
lol. When I was in London for study abroad & we were stuck in the middle of the train, trying to figure out how we were going to get to a door and off quick enough at our stop, this huge dude says "The problem w/ you americans is you're too polite. You just PUSH your way off"

Restaurants open all day is the best. That was a shock when I went to Europe and they weren't.

Here in the States you can have lunch at 11:30.... In Italy every restaurant opens at 12 so you can;t have an early lunch... Same for dinner... You can't dine before 7! I guess there are the hours when your body need to eat, but still... So annoying xD And I', saying this as someone who worked as a manager in a restaurant.. I hate to have to send people away because the kitchen was closing for the afternoon!

Yes! Americans are polite! A lot of people say you're not but YOU ARE!

You need to try food in Italy! Italian food outside of Italy is not as good as the original thing! When I cook Italian at home my husband is so happy... He always asks me questions when he sees me moving in the kitchen... I love cooking! :D

Restaurants open all day is something I often miss at home and everywhere in Europe.
They are open all day here in Moldova though (with free fast wifi in all of them).

Free Wifi is so great! They should have it everywhere! If you are a tourist in America and you need an uber or just need to find out where to go, and you don;t have a phone plan, you just have to step into a starbucks and you know you're going to be fine!

In Italy it's impossible to find free wifi, so if you are in troubles you are fuc*ed! Free WiFi is good for business, it makes more people come to your restaurant and it doesn't cost to much to the owner of the business!

I worked as manager in a restaurant in Italy a for a while, and in a part of the city where there were a lot of foreigners, and I hated having to send them away explaining that the kitchen was about to close for the afternoon!

When I came back to Italy last time I went out in the afternoon for some hopping and I found the stores closed (I totally forgot about that after 6 months in the States) and I was so upset! I can only imagine how I would feel if I wanted to eat something at 3 pm and the restaurant was closed for a siesta! AWFUL!

Wait--is free WiFi not a thing outside of the US? Or just not as widespread or something? Because if so, then I'll be grateful for that too!

I can't talk for all Europe but in Italy wifi is. It free... you can ask for access in some places but it's rare and limited... even in the airport in Genova, you can access for 30 minutes and just once, so, if you are traveling again a month later you can't have access if you already logged in once... when you find free wifi it doesn't work anyway and they ask you to call a phone number to get it activate... if indeed wifi is because my phone it's not working so it basically has. I point...

30 minutes at a time for a month?? Jesus.

I really want to travel to Italy one day, it's at the top of my list! Italian food is my favorite so I need to have all the pasta and pizza I can over there haha.
Ery-chanerychan86 on October 5th, 2016 05:05 pm (UTC)
YEAH ALL THE ITALIAN FOOD! YUM!

I fly quite often and you can find tickets for less than 600$ ... And it worth it! Late spring/early summer or late summer/early fall are the best times to travel over there! :D

Awesome answers! I am dying to try so much Italian food IN Italy! I wish sometimes I came from England or something, a country with more history. I mean the U.S. has history but not enough!!

Good answers about this country too.
Ery-chanerychan86 on October 5th, 2016 05:07 pm (UTC)
Americans are brand new souls and that's lovely! With history comes a sort of heaviness which is nice but sometimes feels like it's too much to carry! :D

The good thing is you can always visit places full of history and be amazed! :D
Miss Ashley: [italy]imagine_peace on October 6th, 2016 03:26 am (UTC)
That's true. I really want to travel!
Ery-chanerychan86 on October 6th, 2016 09:35 pm (UTC)
That's the most wonderful thing!

Listening to the news and hearing about hurricane Matthew and Florida, I thought of you and started to worry, but it turns out that you luckily planned a vacation up north exactly these days?? Hope you have fun :)
Ery-chanerychan86 on October 6th, 2016 09:34 pm (UTC)
Yes... We are safe... Everything worked out great... We planned this holiday a long time ago and the timing was impeccable!

We have family in Georgia and we're quite worried about them! The hurricane is suppose to hit tomorrow afternoon and I hope everything is going to be alright!

Thanks for thinking about us! <3
