flist friday: love and relationships
I'm not exactly having the greatest day today.

It actually started right.... I woke up very happy, had breakfast with Eric and brought him to work. On our way there we talked and I started realizing: tomorrow morning will be the last morning I drive him to work for a long time! I came back home, and I worked on some projects, when he wrote me a text... Apparently the boat is suppose to leave tomorrow... But as in: 1 minute after midnight, so basically He'll be gone in less than 11 hours and I feel robbed! I was ready to be parted from him tomorrow morning... Not tonight! So I'll go pick him up and we're having dinner at home, and then I'll drive him back to the boat and we'll say our goodbyes. The next 2 months are going to be very long!

So the question of the day for me can only be one:

Would you relocate for Love?
Have you ever been in a lond distance relationship, or would you consider it?
Do you think absence makes the heart grow fonder or forgetful?

I did relocate for love... I changed my whole life and Eric and I were dating for not even 3 months when I quit my job and joined the yacht. We met in June and on October I was on the boat, leaving for the States. I didn't even thought about it. There was no "what if we break up?" or "what if I regret it?'... There was no such thing and I never do this kind of things... I usually think about things and take my time, but with Eric I didn't... I decided I wanted to try it and I will never regret it. That was the best decision I've ever made!

I've never had a long distance relationship. I've always dated people there were living not to far away. I had long relationship that I ended because I didn't want to get married... Eric changed that too... And yes, I said no to him for quite a while before saying yes (but just because of my pride). I don't think I would have ever considered a long distance relationship when I started dating Eric. I would have moved anyway. Maybe find a job on another boat just to be in the same area he was. I would have never ask him to relocate for me (even if he would do it, but he doesn't speak a word of Italian).

I think when a relationship is strong it can survive the distance, but I don't believe it makes the heart grow fonder or forgetful. I think it makes you appreciate the other person and the time you have together on a different level! I know I'm going to miss him, but I know we haven't waste any minute of the past month and we won't waste a minute of the time when we'll be back together...

How about you? What's your opinion on the matter?

  • flist friday: f is for food

As you know I am Italian, so good food is pretty important in my life... Like, I honestly get upset when I go to an Italian restaurant in the US…

Would you relocate for Love?
Depends on the person. If this person is a Han Solo I definitely would if not no.

Have you ever been in a lond distance relationship, or would you consider it?
Does with friends count? Honestly Im perfectly content with no boyfriend or girlfriend. Love is a stressor I dont need at the moment.

Do you think absence makes the heart grow fonder or forgetful?
Well I have ADHD so I forget alot of things XD.
Ery-chanerychan86 on November 4th, 2016 02:05 pm (UTC)
LOL... For Han Solo we both would move in a different Galaxy xD

I have a lot of good friends that live very far... Some shattered around Italy and other around Europe... People I've been friend for more than 10 years now... We always go on weird holidays together and one of them I met on the internet thanks to Doctor Who,... But I think with freinds it's different... There is less need to be together all the time... But it's nice to be able to see them often... Eric and I live together,.. it's different... I don't mind not seeing my family for a while, but Eric is different! I'm used to have him around all the time...

Sorry for your condition... But it can be useful sometimes! :D

Would you relocate for Love?
I move around a lot, relocation has never been a big deal for me. I would relocate even for much smaller things than love. Catching a plane at no notice just because I want to get that kebab from that particular corner place two hours flight away is not that unusual for me.

Have you ever been in a lond distance relationship, or would you consider it?
No and no.

Do you think absence makes the heart grow fonder or forgetful?
To a certain extent it does make the heart grow a bit fonder but after that it makes it grow forgetful. I think that there is a sweet spot with this.
Ery-chanerychan86 on November 5th, 2016 01:42 pm (UTC)
I totally agree... I love traveling around as well and I think that I was lucky enough that I didn't have to relocate into another Country right away... I moved into a boat and then into a storage unit LOL!

The kebab story reminds me of a former employer of Eric that loved an Ice Cream that was made in Up State New York and he had an helicopter that was used principally to go buy this icecream and bring it to the house! xD (I actually have a lot of icecream stories about my former boss too... What about rich people and icecream? LOL)

You are right, maybe at first you feel the absence pf the person and you tend to remember all the good things and then it starts to fade away...

I know how you feel.

Luke leaves every couple of weeks for work, to go across the state. It sucks, it's hard. But we talk and text every day, so it's not as bad as it could be.
Ery-chanerychan86 on November 5th, 2016 01:48 pm (UTC)
I know :( but, as Eric said last night when I dropped him off - he feels my love and he's "happy" we both feel so sad when we have to be apart, because it means we are each other's world! <3 He's such a sweet guy!

For now we can text, but not talk because the internet on the boat is crap. When he'll be in Florida (in 15 days) we'll be able to talk <3 but then he'll leave for the Bahamas on a guest trip and there the boat cuts off the internet for the crew! That's going to be hard! Not knowing if he's okay... :'(

I hope the time will pass quickly for you =/

I relocated for love too. It was really hard, but we made it!
Ery-chanerychan86 on November 5th, 2016 01:49 pm (UTC)
Thank you!

Where were you living and where did you move (I'm like a curious monkey xD)? I like love stories <3
*°• Amanda •°*cherrytattoo77 on November 7th, 2016 06:42 pm (UTC)
Well, we were both from the same place (Alabama), but he joined the Marines right after I started college the first time. I moved to North Carolina to be with him.

My story is a little different, because we knew each other for 3 years & got married before I moved. But I still left everything I'd ever known behind!

I’m sorry you two got less time together. That sucks! I hope you had a good dinner and got to enjoy the time you did get.

"Would you relocate for love? "

I doubt it. Certainly not countries. I am very much rooted and comfortable where I am. This is where my life is. I like it here and want to continue to settle deeper roots here with work when school is all done. And hopefully at some point my own place to live. Getting off topic here, moving on!

"Have you ever been in a long-distance relationship, or would you consider it?"

I’ve never been in a relationship to begin with and I consider the chances of me being in one is slim, and I am not sure a long-distance relationship would be something would want.

"Do you think absence makes the heart grow fonder or forgetful?"

Both, but if the relationships is good and it works for both I think grow fonder has more weight.

We had a great evening together! Thank you! We did all we wanted to do and he trimmed the little Christmas Tree I bought for him! He was so happy!

I'm so glad you are happy where you are! That's a beautiful thing! <3 I understand the need to settle down, I feel it too constantly, because my life relocated but I keep traveling and I don't have a home in the US... It's like I'm still moving xD

I think it also depends on how long this period of absence is going to be... And how often it happens... Thankfully we now have ways to be close to the people who live far away from us! The internet was such a great invention! <3

I'm sorry that you'tr not having a good day :(

Would you relocate for Love?
I think that it depends on the person. I won't relocate at the drop of a hat, it does have to be someone special.

Have you ever been in a long distance relationship, or would you consider it?
No, and honestly I'm fine with no boyfriend or girlfriend at the moment.

Do you think absence makes the heart grow fonder or forgetful?
To a certain extent, yes.
Ery-chanerychan86 on November 5th, 2016 01:35 pm (UTC)

Yep, I'd not relocate and change my life for someone who I have even the tiniest doubt about... :)

I loved my single lady times, it was great and full of adventures... But I think I find the right guy so I'm happy I gave it all up... :D

I don't really have any answers to the questions, but I just wanted to say *hugs* and sorry you got less time together than you thought :(

I'm sorry you have less time with Eric before he leaves than you thought =(

Would you relocate for Love?
I'm not sure. For now, I'd say no. I love where I live and i want to always be close to my parents/family. I mean, it's possible I could meet someone that would change my mind, but as of right now that's my answer.

Have you ever been in a long distance relationship, or would you consider it?
I have not, and I don't think I would. I've never had a serious relationships so I really don't want to then end up in one where I never even get to see the guy.

Do you think absence makes the heart grow fonder or forgetful?
Maybe a little fonder at first, but I think ultimately it ends up making it forgetful.
Ery-chanerychan86 on November 6th, 2016 12:13 pm (UTC)
I think that people relocate for love because they get swept up by the passion of the moment, I think that if someone asked me this question, a day before I met Eric, I would have probably said that I would never relocate for love... For work yes... but by then not for love xD
Miss Ashleyimagine_peace on November 6th, 2016 12:43 pm (UTC)
Aw, I'm sorry Eric had to leave early, that stinks. :(

Would you relocate for Love?
I probably would. Ideally to England. But then again, my mom and dad would REALLY miss me, and I them.

Have you ever been in a long distance relationship, or would you consider it?
No I haven't. I might, depending.

Do you think absence makes the heart grow fonder or forgetful?
Ery-chanerychan86 on November 6th, 2016 04:47 pm (UTC)
Thank you! Luckily it's not the first time that happens so, it was sudden, but we were kind of able to manage it! :)

I miss my family and my friends too when I'm away... And yes, it's difficult... :( I feel often guilty about it... :( but tat was the only way, and when I come back here, I stay for a long time :)
Miss Ashleyimagine_peace on November 7th, 2016 03:40 am (UTC)
Oh good!

Well that's nice for you and them! :)

awww, sorry he'll be gone so long. i feel for you.
yes, i have had a long distance relationship, a couple actually and after it all, i despise them. i won't put myself in that position anymore. i need the physical part of the relationship as much as everything else. distance sucks ass.
yes, i would relocate for love though
and no absence does not make the heart grow fonder in my opinion. it causes people to grow apart in most situations....again they're missing the important physical aspects that are really important.
Ery-chanerychan86 on November 8th, 2016 08:19 pm (UTC)
The physical side is very important! I agree!!!

I couldn't relocate to be honest. My family needs me here and I need them. My husband moved in with me closer to my family then his.

I haven't been in a long distance relationship. I don't think I could handle it. I hate being alone in the night.

So I wouldn't know the answer to your 3rd question x

Ery-chanerychan86 on November 8th, 2016 08:21 pm (UTC)
I hate being alone at night too... It's very hard the first couple of nights when he'a away, but then it gets better (or I get too tired... who knows!)
