tv post: september tv calendar
I decided to try to do a new thing. Well... It's not a new thing actually because, this livejournal was all about TV shows when I started (a lot of icons, picspam, music videos,...) but then I stopped somehow, and I started using this more as a way to share myself with you guys... Thing is, as you know, I am a TV addict, and this is a part of me, so I decided to try to make a at least monthly post where I talk about what I am watching and what I think about it!
I watch a lot of shows... but I am really into just a few, so, for them I might do individual reviews, while for others weekly group reviews or talk about them at the end of the month and condensate 4/5 episodes in one post. We'll see... So let's start, shall we?

Is it me or this TV season started pretty late? I have a lot of shows starting in October and for now my Calendar is full of comedies! That is a very good way to start, because it sorts of ease you into it.

This is what I am watching this September:

You're the Worst (Season 4)
The season started strong! After an amazing finale last year (with Jimmy proposing to Gretchen and then running away after she said yes) I was expecting a lot, and - 5 episodes into it - it's giving even more. I am really curious to see what Gretchen is going to do next... This season has been unpredictable up to this moment! I also love the acting... There was the scene in episode 2 when Gretchen comes back home and confronts Jimmy repeating to him the content of his text message (Hey DOT DOT DOT) that gave me chills. It was very intense and Jimmy's expression was full of emotions. Very promising!

The Good Place (Season 2)
Last year finale was GOOD! I sort of sensed we were going in that direction but man, Ted Danson (Michael) going from a kind smile to an evil laugh shocked me. It was insane the way his eyes changed. They casted him PERFECTLY! After the premiere I wondered if we're going to have Eleanor (Kirsten Bell) and the others figuring out Michael's plan in every episode, or we're going to have longer arcs, but the last episode (2x03) surprised me with a great plot twist... I am totally hooked now!1! It was a good start and this season is very promising too!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Season 5)
Another show that last year ended with a pretty intense cliffhanger. The premiere was very good balanced, with enough laughters and a tense finale. I am interested in Jake's storyline and I can't wait to see what's Rosa is dealing with with her inmates... I feel though as something was missing, Understandable after 5 seasons... Maybe was because my beloved Gina was MIA? WHERE IS SHE???

Superstore (Season 3)
It think we have had a good finale last year with the hurricane and the kiss (finally!) between Jonah and Amy, but the premiere didn't do much for me. I'm glad Amy is finally getting a divorce and I wonder if we will see Garrett and Jonah in another setting, sharing an apartment, or we're only going to hear about their adventures!

Will & Grace (Season 9)
Aww they are back! I know I always complain about bringing back old shows, but this show is so good! LOL! I have to say though, I was not very impressed by the premiere... It was too political and anything was said about what went on into the main characters lives, if you don't count Karen's series of questions after she wakes up from her nap. But I guess we'll get there... Jack is always the best though LOL!

Inhumans (Season 1)
I have to admit I didn't like the promo but I decided to watch it anyway just because I know eventually it will mix with the Marvel CU and with Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D.. The pilot didn't change my opinion, so far I don't really like any of the characters and I don't feel very invested in the story,... but I'm going to give ti another chance...

Outlander (Season 3)
Sorry but this season is too boring. I keep putting the episode on Pause to do other things. Season 1 was very good, the last two episode were difficult to watch, but in a good way,... Season 2 started to get boring. I remember just a couple of scenes, but nothing worth mentioning. But this season it's a disaster. Both storylines are extremely dull and boring and I wonder if we're going to see Jamie and Claire together again! I will probably never find out because I am done with the show.

Victoria (Season 2)
Same as Outlander: Season 1 was very good and interesting, but we're 5 episodes into the Second season and nothing interesting happened! It makes me feel like Daisy Goodwin was only planning Season 1 and then she was surprised with Season 2 but didn't know what to do with it (it happens often with TV shows) and she can't just making up stuff, so it's not that easy. I don't know if I should just hang on and finish the season at least. It is hard to watch at the moment and my TV calendar gets quite full in October.

So which of your shows have started? How do you find the season premieres? Did you add something to your calendar? Are you planning to give up on something as well? Let me know!!

Yeah, Inhumans didn't impress me either :/

Even the second episode was not good enough... I like the king and the princess (with Pokémon styled hair LOL) but still... the story is weak... so bye bye show... I'll watch the crossovers...

I'm always wary whenever there is a revival of an old show now, because it's usually just a reunion gimmick to bring on nostalgia for ratings with little development on the story or characters. So I was worried when they announced that Will & Grace was to join in, but I heard good things about the revival premiere. I didn't watch it, but I'm looking forward to the gifs, especially the reaction gifs from Karen, lol.

lol, I predict that Inhumans will be cancelled after several episodes. It just looks so laughably horrible.

I have a few returning shows this fall. Bull just started its second season, which I'm looking forward to. Berlin Station will also be starting its second season in October. I'm also anxiously waiting for Stranger Things to return, along with Agents of Shield and Legends of Tomorrow. I know that Elementary is returning as well, though I don't know when that'll be. When it comes to newer shows, there hasn't been much that has interested me from the lineup. The only one that catches my eye is The Gifted which I'll be checking out, but other than that nothing else. Most of my shows are summer shows, it seems.

Yes, Will & Grace is an addition to a long list of revivals (the X-Files, Prison Break,...) we had too many recently but I think Writers are getting lazy... they take from books, movies, old shows, comics, video games,... and then a lot of spin offs... a few shows are originals and they tend to get cancelled... it's easy to convince us to watch something old now that there's so little new stuff... and then we know the new stuff won't make enough money and will get cancelled... like my beloved Stitchers that was such a great show :(

Yes I think Inhumans won't last long...

I cannot wait for stranger things to come back... ❤️ Also I am very curious about AoS after such a finale... Legends idk... last season something was missing... I hope this year we'll have a good story... the finale was pretty good so I'm hopeful!
Renée: Sense8. Riley Blue.rogueslayer452 on October 11th, 2017 09:28 pm (UTC)
Yeah, there are a lot of original shows out there that present a unique, fresh story but sadly those most likely don't last very long due to the unfair ratings system and how little networks care about promoting that kind of stuff, especially when it comes to genre television. Nostalgia is a killer, and this is why.

Of the shows you list here I only watch two, Outlander and Victoria and unlike you I love them. I don’t this season of Outlander will top the second season for me, but we shall see. I am also watching Star Trek Discovery and trying to catch up on Shadowhunters. And I will watch Wynonna Earp when the second season is available through Netflix.

Sadly, I don’t know how I will be watching Supernatural and Major Crimes when they start up in the US, as neither show is available through any of the streaming sites I subscribe to. My pirates days are over because I had virus infection scare and new laws coming in Norway.

I look forward to the x-mas specials of Doctor Who (same woes as above re watching it) and Call the midwife as well.

Like you I seem to have stopped making reactions. I haven’t found a format I like. Each episode is too much for me, but with season reactions I feel like I miss things as I have forgotten them.
Ery-chan: pic#105558586erychan86 on October 11th, 2017 07:14 pm (UTC)
LOL... you complete me when it comes to shows!!!

Last episode of Outlander was good so I might keep it...

Oh no... I'm sorry to hear about the new legislation :( VPN does not work over there??? :( thank goodness there is Netflix though...

I am waiting to see all the October pil Te (except for stranger things) and then I'll do a TV post... then I'll try to do a weekly one with all the shows or just the one I'm enjoying... I'll see, but yes... it's hard to find a format... I agree!!!
verdande_mi: pic#122309054verdande_mi on October 13th, 2017 02:45 pm (UTC)
We have VPN - it's just I have never bothered to learn how to set it up. The legistation isn't law yet, but since the virus scare I have stayed away. It suck as there some shows, like Supernatural (which started up again yesterday in the US) and Doctor Who which con't air on Norwegian TV nor are available on Netflix or two other such sites I use.
Lauren: Sashaeowyn on September 30th, 2017 11:07 pm (UTC)
Oh no! I haven't seen any of your September shows, haha!

I don't watch a lot of telly. I am looking forward to The Walking Dead restarting soon, though.
Ery-chan: pic#105558586erychan86 on October 11th, 2017 07:15 pm (UTC)
I am so bad with shows... I just love them too much LOL!!! I don't know how I find the time to do other things LOL!!!

Thing is I only watch shows... I mean I don't like TV... so it doesn't take too much of my time...

If I was to add normal Telly It would be a mess...

Welp, I'm totally into Twin Peaks.

Other than that, Law and Order: SVU started up Wednesday and I'm going to watch that soon.
Naomi: The Good Place Eleanor and Chidi hugfrelling_tralk on October 1st, 2017 10:07 pm (UTC)
A lot of my shows are starting even later, I seem to mostly be watching mid-season shows this year. I am excited for The Good Place though, I must get started on season 2 soon! Ditto with needing to catch up with the latest season of Suits. But otherwise it’s mostly shows coming back next year for me: Doctor Who, X-Files, iZombie, The Americans, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Black Mirror. And new shows that I’m interested in checking out are Mindhunter, Life Sentence, and Sharp Objects
Ery-chan: pic#105558586erychan86 on October 11th, 2017 07:21 pm (UTC)
Yes... a lot of mud season and short ones...

I am SO EXCITED for Doctor Who, X-Files and The Handmaid’s Tale.

-I am very sad to see Capaldi go but I cannot wait for a fresh start

-When the news about the X-Files coming back later this season I jumped... for some reason I though we had to wait longer...

-The Handmaid's Tale excites me and worries me at the same time because there is no book to follow now so I hope they have something good in mind... :)

It's not just you - I was thinking just the other day that the TV season starts late this year. A couple of my shows returned this past week, but most of my shows don't start until next week, and at that point we're almost in the middle of October already.

I don't actually watch any of the shows you mentioned, lol... I was briefly considering checking out Inhumans, but I haven't heard very good things about it and I have enough to watch as it is, so I don't think I'll bother.
Ery-chan: pic#105558586erychan86 on October 11th, 2017 07:22 pm (UTC)
Let's hope - since they are starting so late - that the winter hiatus will be a shorter one... :)

I saw the second episode of Inhumans and definitely a waste of time... :(

I am loving 'Good Place' this season! Cannot wait to see what they have planned! Just posted a link in my LJ to a great article about Michael Schur and the worlds he creates.

I gave up on Victoria when I realized it was going to be a series and not a mini-series. I liked the idea of it at first but the end of Season 1 started to drag on for me and I just wasn't compelled to keep going once Rufus Sewell's character faded into the background LOL
Ery-chan: pic#105558586erychan86 on October 11th, 2017 07:25 pm (UTC)
Same as you when it comes to Victoria... it was supposed to be a mini series... but I guess someone smelled money... and that's how you ruin something good... :( this season it's too slow and it has nothing to tell unfortunately... and Rufus is gone so...

I am loving every episode of The Good place so far... last year it lost something in the middle of its run but it gained all its charm back with the finale, and now it keeps surprising me... I love it!!

And soon Riverdale... are you excited???
orangerfulorangerful on October 13th, 2017 08:10 pm (UTC)
OMG RIVERDALE YESSSSS! I am going to watch it this weekend, probably on Sunday. I have been so crazy busy this week plus I caught a cold so when I was working I was sleeping. :| Not fun!

So happy Will & Grace is back! Agreed on the premiere though. There was moments it really made me laugh but I hope it goes back to being a bit more like it used to be as it goes on.
Ery-chan: pic#105558586erychan86 on October 11th, 2017 07:26 pm (UTC)
Thankfully the second episode was less political... I guess they wanted to let it all out... :)

I haven't had a chance to try Inhumans yet, but I haven't been hearing positive review. Like you, the majority of my interest is b/c it ties in w/ the other MCU stuff.

Not sure when Victoria is coming back to PBS, but I'm ready!
Ery-chan: pic#105558586erychan86 on October 11th, 2017 07:29 pm (UTC)
Inhuman is not good at all unfortunately :(
Everyone seems to think so... I think I'll watch the crossovers if it airs long enough... I think it will get cancelled soon though...

Victoria should start on PBS early 2018 I seem to recall...
