july ask me anything meme, day 4 (july 4th)
HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!
Did you guys see the GoogleDoodle of the day? So CUTE!!! With all the Stars celebrating!!! The hubby asked "What's going on with the Ku Klux Klan rally in the background?" LOL, silly hubby! These stars are waiting for their Hot Dogs... Awwww! Back to business now!

orangerful asked me: 3 random things that drive you crazy about the U.S.

I've been in Italy for 2 days now, and so many things already rubbed me in the wrong way/annoyed me that I can't think about anything I don't absolutely love and miss about the U.S. right now! So I'm going to have to really think about it!

1. Right on Red. I'm a biker and a pedestrian first. I use the car too, but I love to walk and bike to places if they're not that far... Americans, and especially the people that install traffic lights, like their cars and they don't care about the needs of a pedestrian as WE NEED TO GET SOMEWHERE TOO... So, if you have to cross one of the main streets (I'm looking at you, you damn US1) you have to press the button, and wait for the green man to appear... the only problem is: it takes that thing FOREVER to do what you're asking it to do! And when it gets green (and in the meantime you had time to check all your emails and answer them, like Instagram photos, comment on every status on Facebook up to a month prior that, wrote a rant about traffic lights on tumblr, etc) cars are allowed to run you over anyway because there is this rule that you can make a right turn on red! The green light for the pedestrian anyway lasts 20 seconds, so you have to dodge cars and RUN on the other side of the street, because if you don't get there in time, a wall of cars will come and get you!

2. The Cost of Health Insurance and the fact that they'll do whatever it takes not to pay for your crazy expansive Hospital Bills. Luckily I'm healthy and I didn't have to deal with any of this sh!t, but my husband had to in the past (before he met me). He had to go to the hospital to get his appendice removed. They did the surgery and then sent him home but something went wrong and he had to go back and he had to stay in the hospital for 5 days because of a mistake the doctors made. 5 days in the hospital cost >50k $. He was working with his brother and he had self insurance (and he was paying a lot) when the insurance saw the bill they went through their records trying to find an excuse not to pay. And they found it. Eric got a mole removed. It was on his arm and he decided to get rid of it for aesthetics reasons, it was a normal mole, not a melanoma. He never had cancer. And in the insurance forms he said he never did! The insurance said he lied, because they could see he had a mole removed and - if they knew in the first place - they would have never insure him. So, Eric had to pay the bill from his pocket. This insurance costed him money and for what? I hate it! It's so unfair! And me, as a green card holder, I can only self insure myself (or get an insurance through my job) and if I get pregnant (like we're planning to, not now but kind of soon) I'm not covered! And bring a life into this World, with no complications costs 15k $. (if you need a C section 25k $) WHAT?

3. Guns. I mean, why do you even need them in the first place? Just get rid of them!

Bonus: Donald Trump... That guy drives me insane...

Not that anyone actually cares or enforces that, but it is the rule.
That's good to know... I don't think I'm going to try to test it in Florida... I might not survive to tell the story! xD
It's a good thing you said they do that in Seattle, now that I know, when I'm going to go visit , I'm not going to cry out of joy when they stop to let me pass! :D

I don't have insurance either. I'll have to get it because now that it's regulated by the government, if you don't have you'll have to pay a fine (I still need to research this better) but in Italy we have free health care and private health care. You only pay for the private one and it's not that pricy... But that way you don't have to wait... But if you're not in a rush you can go with the free one that is good anyway! So I do all my medical stuff here usually... My problem is, let's say I get pregnant: it lasts 9 months but - as a green card holder, to maintain my status - I have to spend cumulatively 6 months and 1 day in the States every year (my year starts in Sept 24th as it was my first day as resident) meaning, if I want to have the kid in Italy I still need to spend some time in the States and I have to make some of my tests there, then leave before the 7th month (you can't flight after the 7th month) to give birth then go to the embassy and register our child as an American Citizen. I'll have to be super sure of the dates and I have to be lucky not to be one of these risk pregnancies... All because I don't want to risk to end up in debt because a doctor did something wrong and I have to pay it from my pockets. Insurance should not be so expensive and people should be covered for everything. It's human lives we're talking about... It's so unfair! It should not matter that you don't do "enough hours"... It makes me so mad!
