july ask me anything meme, day 4 (july 4th)
HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!
Did you guys see the GoogleDoodle of the day? So CUTE!!! With all the Stars celebrating!!! The hubby asked "What's going on with the Ku Klux Klan rally in the background?" LOL, silly hubby! These stars are waiting for their Hot Dogs... Awwww! Back to business now!

orangerful asked me: 3 random things that drive you crazy about the U.S.

I've been in Italy for 2 days now, and so many things already rubbed me in the wrong way/annoyed me that I can't think about anything I don't absolutely love and miss about the U.S. right now! So I'm going to have to really think about it!

1. Right on Red. I'm a biker and a pedestrian first. I use the car too, but I love to walk and bike to places if they're not that far... Americans, and especially the people that install traffic lights, like their cars and they don't care about the needs of a pedestrian as WE NEED TO GET SOMEWHERE TOO... So, if you have to cross one of the main streets (I'm looking at you, you damn US1) you have to press the button, and wait for the green man to appear... the only problem is: it takes that thing FOREVER to do what you're asking it to do! And when it gets green (and in the meantime you had time to check all your emails and answer them, like Instagram photos, comment on every status on Facebook up to a month prior that, wrote a rant about traffic lights on tumblr, etc) cars are allowed to run you over anyway because there is this rule that you can make a right turn on red! The green light for the pedestrian anyway lasts 20 seconds, so you have to dodge cars and RUN on the other side of the street, because if you don't get there in time, a wall of cars will come and get you!

2. The Cost of Health Insurance and the fact that they'll do whatever it takes not to pay for your crazy expansive Hospital Bills. Luckily I'm healthy and I didn't have to deal with any of this sh!t, but my husband had to in the past (before he met me). He had to go to the hospital to get his appendice removed. They did the surgery and then sent him home but something went wrong and he had to go back and he had to stay in the hospital for 5 days because of a mistake the doctors made. 5 days in the hospital cost >50k $. He was working with his brother and he had self insurance (and he was paying a lot) when the insurance saw the bill they went through their records trying to find an excuse not to pay. And they found it. Eric got a mole removed. It was on his arm and he decided to get rid of it for aesthetics reasons, it was a normal mole, not a melanoma. He never had cancer. And in the insurance forms he said he never did! The insurance said he lied, because they could see he had a mole removed and - if they knew in the first place - they would have never insure him. So, Eric had to pay the bill from his pocket. This insurance costed him money and for what? I hate it! It's so unfair! And me, as a green card holder, I can only self insure myself (or get an insurance through my job) and if I get pregnant (like we're planning to, not now but kind of soon) I'm not covered! And bring a life into this World, with no complications costs 15k $. (if you need a C section 25k $) WHAT?

3. Guns. I mean, why do you even need them in the first place? Just get rid of them!

Bonus: Donald Trump... That guy drives me insane...

The only thing I don't like with the right on red is how some forget that it's not mandatory to always turn right on red, so the cars behind you get so angry and persistent at you. Like, just chill, alright?

However, while I was in L.A. recently there was this thing that I absolutely hated. It was yielding when turning left. Some of the streets there had no left turn signal, and you only could turn left if you inched forward and prayed that no other cars were coming from ahead. I found that extremely dangerous! Like, that is an accident waiting to happen! I'm sure those who live in that area are used to it and found ways of understanding that system, but it was honestly so scary to me how anything like that could ever be safe.

Our healthcare system sucks, even with attempting at fixing how broken it is, it just isn't enough. Just the fact that they basically financially suck you dry just for mere checkups is bad enough, but if you don't have insurance, you're basically screwed.

The whole NRA/pro-gun side of this country absolutely terrifies and infuriates me. How many more senseless mass shootings where innocent people die need to happen before they get it through their thick skulls that we need a better, tighter gun control? And no, the whole, "well if they had guns to protect themselves none of them would have died" argument isn't going to fly because it's stupid as fuck.

That's awful! I would be getting out of the car and walk away in a situation like that, like "I give up"....

but if you don't have insurance, you're basically screwed.
You're right, but I hate the fact they find a way to screw you anyway... I mean, if I put myself in my husband's shoes (he's too good for its own good, I'm not) I would make hell rain down on them... I paid you for so long and then, when I need you, you decide you're going to do whatever it takes to get rid of me because now I'm no longer a good investment for you? I'm a person...

It doesn't make any sense...

"well if they had guns to protect themselves none of them would have died" argument isn't going to fly because it's stupid as fuck.
Don't make me start talking about that statement... Can you imagine if in Orlando everyone had a gun? People freaking out because of fear and make even more damage trying to shoot at anyone without thinking...
